Protean Drive™ is a fully integrated, direct-drive solution. We started with a clean sheet of paper and turned the motor inside out. Prototype manufacturing will begin in early 2013 with volume production in 2014, out of Protean’s new manufacturing facility in Liyang, China.

RECENT PROJECTS
Protean Electric and BRABUS, the highly acclaimed automobile tuner, partnered to produce the BRABUS Hybrid. Powering the rear wheels in combination with the internal combustion engine, the Protean Electric in-wheel motors each add 80 kW (110 hp) and 800 Nm (590 ft.-lbs.) of peak torque. This gives the sedan a combined electric motor and internal combustion engine acceleration of 0-100 km/hr (0-62 mph) in 7.4 seconds and a combined electric motor and internal combustion engine acceleration of 60-120 km/hr (37-75 mph) of 5.6 seconds.

PROTEAN ELECTRIC’S KEN STEWART TO SPEAK AT 2013 ELECTRIC DRIVE TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE
Ken Stewart, Protean Electric’s vice president of Business Development, participated as a panelist on “Coming Down the Line Automotive Developments” at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12.
Stewart will present the latest in Protean’s technology and new production in-wheel motor alongside moderator John Thomas, Co-Founder & CEO, ALTe Powertrain Technologies and panelists including Diarmuid O’Connell, Vice President, Business Development, Tesla Motors; Cliff Fietzek, Manager Connected eMobility, BMW of North America; Alan Perriton, President, Via Motors and Wayne Killen, General Manager of Product Strategy and Launch, Audi of America.
